An Unexpected Gift From A Hero

Long time supporter and sponsor, Sandy Pierce, was gracious enough to share a heartwarming story about a hero she sponsored through HeroBox. Deployed service member Krzysztof Danczuk with the United States Air Force sent Sandy a surprising letter and with it a certificate of honor with a flag flown at his Airbase in Bagram Afghanistan.

“I wanted to sincerely thank you for taking the time to send me and my team care packages during our deployment. Here hero boxes brought so much joy and excitement to me and my team. I always looked forward to opening your packages. With our food options being so limited, the snacks you sent were everything to us! We appreciate it more than words can describe. Every package was made with such care and it did not go unnoticed. Thank you for taking such good care of us during these past 6 months!”

Sandy stated she was thrilled and surprised to receive the letter and gifts from the service member she was supporting.

“I’ve had lots that travelled around different areas - you can’t be looking for a pen pal here - you do this because it’s something you want to do for someone else. You shouldn’t be looking for accolades or thanks from the Hero. I’ve been very fortunate in my life so this is a good way of paying it forward, giving it back to those who are keeping us safe. I was in the Navy and know how much every card, letter, package means when you’re away from home. Every time I get an email or a card, it’s always a surprise and puts a smile on my face.”
