Brave Crate’s Top 6 Items For Female Heroes!

We here at Brave Crate are passionate about helping you send tons of love through the mail to the important people in your lives.  While we are a deployment countdown subscription box service for military wives, today we want to focus on a different but equally important audience: female service members who are deployed overseas.  We have huge respect and admiration for these women and let’s face it, when they are away from their families and serving our country they deserve some extra love!

So we’re outlining some of our favorite ideas for items that you could include in your next care package to a female service member during their deployment.  We all know that we can often come up short on ideas when it comes to assembling care packages, so enjoy this list for some fresh inspiration!

We suggest including things from each of these six categories:

1. Toiletries

No matter our circumstances, women love to feel fresh and clean and feminine and lovely.  Some of our favorites in this area are: shower bombs, body wipes, lip balm, delicious smelling lotions and any of their favorite body products like deodorant and face wash.

2. Homemade Items

You know this incredible lady is missing her family and loved ones fiercely.  Getting homemade items from them will mean everything.  Consider including: crafts from kids, hand written cards, homemade puzzles/sudoku/word searches/mazes, or homemade jewelry to wear when not in uniform.

Our favorite: DIY Bracelet Kit from Charlie Madison Originals

3. Photographs

This is probably every service member’s number one favorite item in care packages.  They may have photos on their phones, but there is nothing like holding the photos in their hands, having them hanging around their bed and at their desk. If you’re close to the service member whose care package you’re creating, include a few favorite photos with family friends.

Our favorite: Custom photo book from Snapfish

4. Reading materials

Although we can access tons of books digitally now, having a new book to read or magazine to enjoy can be so much fun.  Plus it has the added bonus of the opportunity to pass it around to their fellow service members once they are done reading.

Our favorite: Anything from Reese Witherspoon’s Book Club

5. Writing materials

Writing is definitely one of the greatest and simplest self care activities available to us.  And yet, we often don’t make time for it.  Sometimes all you need to get writing is some fresh writing materials like cute notebooks and awesome pens.  Consider including both stationary to write home or welcome home letters, and personal writing materials like a bullet journal or diary.

Our favorite: Kindred Flat Note Set from Westhouse

6. Snack items

Even on the home front, it can be easy to get stuck eating the same things each and every day.  Sending a unique or hard-to-find snack can be a great way to spread some joy!  Often, stores like Target or TJ Maxx carry fun “out of the box” snacks that will feel like a real treat!

Our favorite: Jalapeno Cheddar Popcorn from Poppy

We hope you have enjoyed this list and find it to be helpful. We can’t wait for you to put this list to good use and get that next care package on it’s way to the female service member in your life. We know she will love it and that it will mean so much to her.
